What is Hospitality

This is my lecture about F & B

          Hospitality is a relationship between the guest and host OR the act or practice of being hospitable.

Specifically this includes the reception and intertainment of guests, visitors or strangers. Resorts, membership clubs, conventions,special events and other services for travelers and toursits.

The word “Hospitality” derives from Latin word “Hospes”which is also derives from “hostis”, which orignally meant“To have Power”. The meaning of host can be literallyread as “Lord of Strangers”

In the west today hospitality is a rarely a matter of protection and survival, and is more associated with etiquette and entertainment. The hospitality service industries includes hotels, casinos and resorts, which comfort and guidance to strangers, whether it is commercial or non commercial. The term “Hospital” and “Hostel” also derives from “Hospitality”.

Hotel

          A hotel is an establishment that provides paid lodgaing on a short term basis. The provision of basic accomodation in time past consisting only of a room, a cupboard, a small table and a wash stand, has largely been repalced by room modren facilities.

Casino

          In modren English a casino is a facility, with houses and accomodation certain types gambling activities. Casinos are most commenly build near or combind with hotels, retail shopping mall, cruise ships or orther tourist places.

Resort

          Resort is a place used for relaxation, recreation, attracting visitors for holidays or vocations. For example inland resorts, sea resorts or sea side resort, sky resort and mountain resort.
